The Greek School of Plato is a 501(c) (3) organization that provides students from Pre-K to 9th grade an opportunity to explore the richness of the Greek language, history, and culture with second, third, and continuing generations of Greek Americans.

Plato edifies our students, growing their appreciation of Greek heritage. We engage in our work by leveraging a powerful support system comprised of trained teaching staff, volunteers, parents, and friends as well as the community’s youth. Plato seeks to instill values of democracy and leadership by engaging its current students and alumni in service to their community, keeping the spirit of service, democracy, and civic engagement alive. Job Description

We are looking for enthusiastic PreKindergarten Teachers to join our team. Our Pre-K Teachers will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum that meets the needs of young children of the day-time preschool program (birth to 2nd grade) that starts in September 2023. This includes planning, organizing, and delivering lessons to foster the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development of students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an age-appropriate curriculum that aligns with state standards
  • Develop lesson plans and activities that meet the individual needs of each student
  • Understand children’s needs and behaviors
  • Monitor student progress, provide feedback, keep accurate records, and adjust instruction as needed
  • Maintain a well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
  • Establish positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Help children learn about science, life skills, and more.
  • Encourage creativity through the use of art materials, music, outdoor play activities, etc.
  • Maintain a well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods such as hands-on activities and games
  • Remain up to date on early childhood education best practices
  • Prepare classroom materials and maintain supplies inventory
  • Assess student performance and provide feedback
  • Prepare progress reports for parents
  • Participate in professional development activities as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Must have valid New York State certification/license to teach prekindergarten/preschool education
  • Minimum of two years of experience
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language (spoken and written)
